    Why a Jog-a-thon?

The PTA is allowed ONE fundraiser per year! We need parent’s participation in our one fundraiser or we have to cut out certain programs/benefits to the students for the rest of the year. IF we meet our goal this year, PTA will pay for the busing/transportation costs for field trips through out the year for our school and PTA will also give each student a FREE t-shirt. If we don’t meet our fundraising goal, our funding for other programming such as Reflections, Field Day, and Teacher Appreciation also declines. We really need your help.

Our goal is $15,000! What you can do:

We wish to extend an invitation to family and friends to join us in helping raise funds for field trips, and other fun and educational activities and programming here at school. Each participant will raise funds by asking family and friends to give flat donations to help support our school. We are asking for a minimum donation of $10 per student or $25 per family. Our school goal is $15,000 with 1140 students at our school which means we need as much as you can give!

    How it works:

Students and classes will also have an opportunity to earn prizes and awards based on their participation in the Jog-a-thon. The goal for Kindergarten-3rd grade is 1 mile. The goal for 4th-6th grade is 2 miles. Training for this goal is needed at home and through other extra-curricular activities.

The envelope with the attached form is due on the day of your student's Jog-A-Thon. Please include all donations and information in your student's envelope. Please do not return the envelope until the day of the Jog-A-Thon. We will announce winners on Tuesday, November 10th after all tracks have participated.

two miles?! the jr. high kids don't run that far

  1. Participation in the Jog-A-Thon is not conditional on a student being able to walk/run/jog 1 mile or 2 miles. The 1 mile for k-3rd and 2 mile for 4th-6th is a 'goal'; not a requirement. Our principal, Mrs. Yost and Foothills PTA, agreed that a it is important for students that want to make an extra effort to achieve and train for the event, to have something to achieve that is well defined and attainable. the distance for 1 mile is 4 laps/times around the lower bowl field and 2 miles is 8 laps/times around the field. Those students that prefer to not walk/run/jog 1 mile or 2 miles (depending on their grade), do not have to walk/run/jog that far in order to participate. Sufficient time will be allowed for each grade to achieve the set goal if they are working towards that end. If there is a physical limitation that prevents a student from participating as outlined, we have already considered that possibility, and Mrs. Yost and Foothills PTA will work with those students to ensure they are able to participate at their ability. Please contact Mrs. Yost, or the below email address, to let us know of your students needs or limitation. foothillspta@gmail.com

I think it's a great motivator for our whole family to do something together & become healthier. I know my kids will encourage me to get moving a bit more! Great idea & we are just planning to bundle up same as we do for trick-or-treating come rain or snow!! :)
