  • Foothills Jog-a-thon!

    Why a Jog-a-thon?

The PTA is allowed ONE fundraiser per year! We need parent’s participation in our one fundraiser or we have to cut out certain programs/benefits to the students for the rest of the year. IF we meet our goal this year, PTA will pay for the busing/transportation costs for field trips through out the year for our school and PTA will also give each student a FREE t-shirt. If we don’t meet our fundraising goal, our funding for other programming such as Reflections, Field Day, and Teacher Appreciation also declines. We really need your help.

Our goal is $15,000! What you can do:

We wish to extend an invitation to family and friends to join us in helping raise funds for field trips, and other fun and educational activities and programming here at school. Each participant will raise funds by asking family and friends to give flat donations to help support our school. We are asking for a minimum donation of $10 per student or $25 per family. Our school goal is $15,000 with 1140 students at our school which means we need as much as you can give!

    How it works:

Students and classes will also have an opportunity to earn prizes and awards based on their participation in the Jog-a-thon. The goal for Kindergarten-3rd grade is 1 mile. The goal for 4th-6th grade is 2 miles. Training for this goal is needed at home and through other extra-curricular activities.

The envelope with the attached form is due on the day of your student's Jog-A-Thon. Please include all donations and information in your student's envelope. Please do not return the envelope until the day of the Jog-A-Thon. We will announce winners on Tuesday, November 10th after all tracks have participated.

  • UDOT Program "Walk More in Four" Program Launching at Foothills! On August 26, 2009, UDOT’s Student Neighborhood Access Program (SNAP)™ will launch “Walk More in Four,” a statewide initiative to encourage elementary-age children in Utah to walk and bike to school safely during the four weeks in September.

The Press Event to Launch the program will take place in front of Foothills Elementary at 3:15 on Wednesday, August 26th. Participating in the Launch Event will be Riverton Mayor, Randy Park UDOT Representative, Principal Yost and a GMS Representative.

Here is how the program works:

Between Monday, August 31 and Friday, September 25, all Utah elementary students are encouraged to walk or bike to school at least three days a week, or 60 percent of the time. Bused students can walk or bike their neighborhood while practicing safe walking and biking habits.
    · Students should keep track of the days they walk or bike to school on a chart that can be downloaded beginning Tuesday, August 25 at www.udot.utah.gov/snap.
    · To ensure safety, students should use the school’s SNAP Map, which shows the safest walking and biking routes to school (obtain a copy from the school).

All students who walk or bike at least three days a week during those four weeks and return their chart to UDOT will be entered into a drawing to win bikes, helmets, backpacks, scooters and other great prizes donated by community supporters. The return address for mailing is provided on the chart.

To be eligible for the drawing, students must mail their completed chart with a parent or guardian’s signature to the following address on September 28, 2009. The charts must be received by October 5, 2009 (The drawing will take place on National Walk to School Day, October 7, 2009):

    SNAP/Walk More in Four
    375 West 200 South, Suite 275
    Salt Lake City, Utah 84101
