  • "Look at Me; I'm Drug Free!" Red Ribbon Week starts Nov. 2nd Red Ribbon Week 2009 will be held the week of November 2nd. The theme this year is “Look at Me; I’m Drug Free”. In order to make this a memorable experience, the PTA has planned a variety of daily activities for the students and their classes. We encourage parents to take time to discuss the importance of making an active choice to stay drug free. Please take time to look at the Red Ribbon Week Pledge that will be coming home soon, sign both parts of the pledge and return the student portion back to school. We will be displaying each student’s individual signed pledge at the school. Please display the home copy somewhere in your home where your child will see it often. What is Reflections? Here is some information from the Utahpta.org site:

Reflections is an annual program that encourages students' artistic talents. For more than 30 years, the Reflections program has invited children (preschool-grade 12) to create and submit works of art.

Every year in Utah we have about 60,000 students enter the Reflections program. We have expanded the original categories of Music, Photography, Visual Arts and Literature to include 4 additional categories, including Dance, Theatre, 3D and Film and Video.

This is a wonderful program for our students. The excitement and enthusiasm that the Reflections arts recognition program generates for children, parents, schools, and communities is unmatched. The Reflections program offers your PTA an opportunity to showcase your school and students and demonstrate the importance of a quality arts education. In addition, the Reflections program offers students the opportunity to express themselves and receive positive recognition for their artistic efforts.

  • Book Fair Volunteers Still Needed! We are still in desperate need of adult volunteers to sign up to work at our school's Book Fair. The book fair is held during parent/teacher conferences: October 21&22 for C&D tracks, November 4&5th for A&B tracks. There are sign up sheets in the front office.

Many parents find it convenient to work at the book fair that is not for the track their child is on. Then they are free to volunteer without conflicts with parent/teacher conferences. Would you consider giving an hour of your time to help children in our school buy books to have and read at home?
